ZUMC held its 35th anniversary evening gala on October 16th at the Xiasha campus in front of the school’s library.
The gala, in the theme “love of ZUMC, dream of China”, was hosted by well-known alumni such as Wang Xudong, Suoni, Xiaoqiang and some other schoolfellows. The second stage in the school’s Tongxiang campus was also well organised. The two stages interacted with great passion.
The gala presented three phases of development of ZUMC through dance, music, scene play, reciting, and Kunqu drama and showed us a magnificent eye feast for the eye and the mind. It recalled the early days when the modern media and communications courses were just initiated. The university’s achievements were demonstrated in many aspects such as outstanding alumni in the film and television industry and the internationalization of education . An award ceremony for distinguished alumni was also held on the stage, and the awarded winners were Zhao Yifang, Zhang Weiqiu, Du Fang, Xu Chengyong, and Dong Chao. The Tongxiang gala giving a full play to the students’ talent and wisdom was as much of a success as the one held in Xiasha.
“It is my Alma Mater who taught me the spirit of perseverance. I'm so proud of its achievements and influence” said Zhang Weiqiu affectionately, a graduate of 1986.
“You will surpass all of us if you have your dream and confidence to achieve it” said Dong Chao, a graduate of 1994.
“I'm so proud to teach at this school,” said American teacher Stephnie, “the gala was so brilliant.”
