On the afternoon of November 29th, 2023, CUZ collaborated with its working partner the University of Bolton in the UK to hold the graduation ceremony and degree awarding ceremony for the Master's degree program in Visual Communication from 2020 to 2023 in Hangzhou. President Xu Xiaozhou, Chancellor George Philip St. Andrews of Bolton University, Head of the Discipline Construction and Graduate Management Office, International Office, and the School of Broadcasting and Hosting Arts of CUZ, as well as a team of project teachers and graduates from the fourth year of the project, jointly attended the ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by Qiminghong, Secretary of the Party Committee and Deputy Dean of the School of Art.
At the graduation ceremony, President Xu extended warm congratulations to all the master's graduates of the fourth cohort and expressed gratitude to Bolton University for its efforts in project teaching and master's training. He pointed out that the two-year academic journey has provided students with excellent life experiences, learning experiences, and knowledge wealth. They not only need to adapt to high-intensity learning tasks, but also balance the relationship between work, study, and life, which is very rare. They are proud of the courage to pursue their inner dreams and reposition themselves on a new journey in life.
Chancellor St. Andrews, on behalf of Bolton University, extends sincere congratulations to all graduates and expresses special gratitude to CUZ for its strong support of the project. He hopes that the two universities can continue to develop more diverse and comprehensive cooperation.
Professor Clark, the representative of the project supervisor, stated that after two years of study and practice in the master's program, all students have acquired an international perspective and comprehensive qualities to tell the story of China well. He wishes his students a boundless future vision like the sky, a profound story like the earth beneath their feet, and to learn and apply it in their future work, making contributions to building a bridge for cultural exchange between China and foreign countries.
Chenxiushan, a representative of outstanding graduates, shared her two-year learning and life experience, stating that this experience has brought her a whole new world, where she has learned to think, practice, and explore from a broader perspective. She also expressed gratitude to the schools and teachers of both China and the UK for their careful cultivation.
Subsequently, Chancellor St. Andrews held a degree awarding ceremony for the fourth graduating class.
With the approval of the Ministry of Education, CUZ and the University of Bolton in the UK have jointly established a Master's degree education program in Visual Communication, which provides a high-level and international education platform for media professionals and those who aspire to work in this industry. The project has recruited a total of 165 people and completed 5 training sessions, which has had a positive impact on the high-level graduate education of media in our school. It has strengthened the internationalization concept of media education, helped media education to align with international standards, promoted the development of discipline construction, and provided intellectual support for cultivating news and media talents with international perspectives.
