On the afternoon of December 1st, 2023, CUZ President Xu Xiaozhou met with Ms. Rossella Salvia, the head of the UNESCO Centre for Learning and Partnership Development, and held a symposium entitled "Communication and Development: Dialogue between University Presidents and International Officials". Guo Guangchu, Director of the International Office, Huang Minggang, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of International Cultural Communication, experts from Zhejiang University, and student representatives from CUZ related schools attended the symposium.

During the symposium, President Xu and Salvia conducted in-depth discussions and exchanges on four topics: the mission and responsibility of UNESCO, how China can play a greater role in building a community with a shared future for mankind, what theoretical researchers and practical promoters are needed in the field of international communication, and what core competencies international communication talents should possess.

Salvia stated that safeguarding peace is the mission of UNESCO. As a professional university dedicated to the development of media industry and international cultural exchange, CUZ aims to vigorously cultivate international communication talents with solid professional knowledge. We need to continue to promote the development of education, not only to cultivate multiple language skills, but also to learn rich professional knowledge and form a confident humanistic temperament. In the learning process, we need to engage in interdisciplinary learning with creative thinking and adapt to diverse social environments with a high sense of responsibility.

President Xu acknowledged Sarvia's main points of view and conducted in-depth exchanges on different perspectives. Both sides agree that we need to cultivate composite talents with an international perspective, innovative thinking, strong communication skills, equal emphasis on academics and abilities, and in line with the needs of the times.

After the symposium, President Xu accompanied Ms. Salvia to visit the school's 4K e-sports comprehensive laboratory, the school history museum, and the China Radio and Television Art Data Research Centre.
