8th October 2014, Professor Bashir Makhoul, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Birmingham City University and its China region contact person, Yu Qiumei paid a visit to ZUMC. ZUMC Vice President Professor Li Jun and Mr. Bao Xiaofeng, Deputy-Director of ZUMC International Office received and welcomed the guests.
Birmingham CityUniversity is one of theUK's largest modern and comprehensive universities. Its many research fields such as design as well as media have reached the international advanced level in the world, with its history traced back to 1843 at the earliest. The university offers a wide range of majors for a capacity of 25,000 students from all parts of the world to choose from. It has 6 schools and colleges offering over 300 programs and courses. The school renders education in different dimensions: language school, preparatory courses, undergraduate courses, master courses and doctoral courses. On the outstanding quality of teaching, City University was rated as excellent by the British QAA, and ranked 8th for its drama and dance majors, and ranked 11th for its media and communication majors. in the University League Table of The Guardian in recent years .
In December 2013, the Director of Birmingham City University's International Office visited ZUMC for the business of collaboration. In April this year, a co-op referendum and an agreement on exchanging students were signed by the two schools. At the beginning of this term, 14 ZUMC students were sent to Birmingham City Universityas part of the agreement.
This trip of Porfessor Makhoul confirms his intention of improving the cooperation between the two school into a broader range of field of education.
