On the afternoon of November 19, the “Zhejiang–Thailand Higher Education Cooperation Matching Meeting”, hosted by the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Education and organised by Hangzhou Normal University and the Zhejiang Education Association for International Exchange, was held at the Cangqian Campus of Hangzhou Normal University. Pechdao Tormena, Vice Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation of Thailand; Shu Peidong, Deputy Director-General of the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Education; and relevant leaders from the Foreign Affairs Office of Zhejiang Province attended the event. Representatives from ten Thai universities, including Bangkok University, and nine universities from Zhejiang Province, including Communication University of Zhejiang (CUZ), were invited to participate. CUZ Vice President Yao Zheng attended the meeting on behalf of our university.

At the meeting, Yao Zheng introduced the disciplinary features and academic strengths of Communication University of Zhejiang, as well as the university’s cooperation and exchange experience with Thai higher education institutions. He noted that the university will take this matching event as an opportunity to deepen pragmatic cooperation with Thai universities, further strengthening collaboration in joint education programmes, faculty and student exchanges, academic communication and people-to-people and cultural exchanges, so as to jointly promote talent cultivation and academic innovation.

The event coincided with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand. Institutions from both sides carried out extensive exchanges on topics such as talent cultivation, faculty and student exchanges, and scientific research cooperation. In recent years, Communication University of Zhejiang has achieved a series of cooperation outcomes with Thai universities. To date, the university has signed cooperation agreements with Burapha University, Dhurakij Pundit University, and the College of Creative Industry at Srinakharinwirot University, among others, and has carried out in-depth cooperation with Thai institutions in areas such as inter-university exchanges, industry–university–research collaboration, international Chinese language education, joint student training, and research and creative projects.
