Visit of Victor Vladimirovich Balabash, Dean of the Faculty of Philology, Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, to Communication University of Zhejiang

On 18 November, Victor Vladimirovich Balabash, Dean of the Faculty of Philology at Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia (RUDN University), led a delegation to visit Communication University of Zhejiang (CUZ). CUZ Secretary of the Party Committee Wei Guotan and Vice President Yao Zheng met with the delegation separately. Representatives from the Development and Planning Office, Office of Undergraduate Education, Office of International Exchange and Cooperation, as well as the School of Journalism and Communication, Huace School of Film, School of Broadcasting and Hosting Arts, School of Television and Audio-Visual Arts (School of Documentary), and the School of Literature attended the meetings.

Secretary Wei Guotan warmly welcomed the delegation and recalled his pleasant visit to RUDN University in July this year. He noted that since the visit, cooperation between the two universities has progressed steadily. Dean Balabash’s return visit marks a new stage in bilateral collaboration. He expressed hope that the two institutions would deepen cooperation in the humanities and arts, and jointly promote student and faculty exchanges, scientific research, and academic interaction.

Vice President Yao Zheng provided an overview of CUZ’s distinctive academic profile and recent achievements in the humanities and social sciences. He emphasized that CUZ’s disciplines—including literature and journalism & communication—share broad areas of alignment with RUDN University’s Faculty of Philology. He proposed strengthening cooperation in joint educational programs, faculty exchanges, and student mobility to advance talent development and academic innovation.

Dean Victor Vladimirovich Balabash expressed sincere appreciation for CUZ’s warm reception. He reaffirmed RUDN University’s strong commitment to developing the partnership and stated that this visit aims to further implement the cooperation consensus reached in July—particularly in establishing joint research centers, launching student-faculty exchanges, and initiating collaborative educational programs.

During the meeting, both sides held in-depth discussions on joint educational programs, faculty and student exchanges, and collaborative research, reaching broad agreements in multiple areas. The visit further consolidated the partnership and laid a solid foundation for future collaboration in the humanities.

The delegation also visited CUZ’s 4K E-sports Integrated Laboratory to gain an understanding of the university’s latest achievements in media education and practical training.

Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia (RUDN University) is one of Russia’s most renowned national comprehensive universities. Founded in 1960, it is distinguished for research in international relations and global cultures. The university comprises 17 academic units (including seven faculties, nine institutes, and one research institute), offering programs in philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, and management.
