Hangzhou, 18 April 2025 — International students from Communication University of Zhejiang (CUZ) recently took part in the 18th edition of the “Dream of Zhejiang” Chinese Talent Showcase and Chinese Song Contest Awards Ceremony, held at Zhejiang University of Finance and Economics.
Jointly organised by the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Education, the Information Office of the Zhejiang Provincial Government, the Foreign Affairs Office of the Zhejiang Provincial Government, and Zhejiang Radio and Television Group, the event brought together over 500 international students from 18 universities across the province. Themed “Dream of Zhejiang: Singing into the Future,” the showcase featured 16 diverse performances that celebrated the richness and vitality of Chinese culture.

CUZ’s students joined 28 peers from ten countries — including the United Kingdom, Spain, Peru, Bangladesh, Russia, Thailand, Italy, the United States, Belarus, and Malaysia — to present Classics Recited and Sung. The performance blended poetry, music, dance, and visual storytelling, reimagining iconic Chinese poems such as Ascending the Stork Tower, A Spring Outing to West Lake, and Memories of Jiangnan. The piece offered an evocative portrayal of China’s literary heritage, brought to life through a contemporary, intercultural lens.
The event culminated in a heartwarming finale, as all international participants took to the stage to perform My Future Is Not a Dream. Students from different nationalities united in a shared melody, their performance a powerful testament to cross-cultural friendship and collective aspiration.

The CUZ School of International Education played a key role in supporting the students’ participation, coordinating rehearsals and inviting academic staff from the School of Broadcasting and Hosting Arts to provide professional guidance and coaching.
On 19 April, the international students also took part in a visit to the Zhejiang Provincial Educational Base for Foreign Students, as part of the wider “Dream of Zhejiang” initiative. Through these enriching activities, participants engaged meaningfully with Chinese culture, fostering mutual understanding and dialogue through artistic expression.
The programme exemplified the spirit of openness and hospitality encapsulated by the traditional Chinese saying: “Is it not a joy to have friends come from afar?” As cultural ambassadors, CUZ’s international students are contributing to a vibrant exchange between East and West, blending Chinese cultural elements with global perspectives to compose a unique and harmonious cultural narrative.
