Images sketch integrity; ink conveys honesty. Recently, the award ceremony of the 6th “Yuzong Cup” Clean Governance Microfilm and Microvideo Competition, themed “Clean Images, Honest Hearts”, was held in Liangzhu, Hangzhou. Zhang Weibo, member of the University’s Party Committee, Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission, and Supervisory Commissioner, attended the event alongside representatives from the Discipline Inspection and Supervision Office and the School of Television and Audiovisual Arts (School of Documentary).

Launched on September 3, 2024, the 6th “Yuzong Cup” was jointly hosted by the China Discipline Inspection and Supervision Magazine, Zhejiang Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision, Zhejiang Provincial Department of Education, Zhejiang Federation of Literary and Art Circles, China Media Group Zhejiang Station, Zhejiang Daily Press Group, Hangzhou Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision, and the CPC Yuhang District Committee. The event was co-organized by the Yuhang District Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision, Zhejiang Legal Daily, the Zhejiang Film Association, and Communication University of Zhejiang (CUZ).

Since its launch, the competition has attracted 2,493 entries nationwide. Following several rounds of rigorous evaluation, 118 works were selected as winners. Among them, our university received the Organizational Excellence Award, the only university in China to be so recognized. Additionally, the microfilm "A Chronicle of Shanhai", co-produced by our university and the Discipline Inspection Commissions of Qingdao City and Laoshan District, Shandong Province, won the Bronze Award in the Microfilm Category and was selected by CCTV Video as one of nine exemplary microfilms nationwide for promoting the core spirit of the Central Party’s Eight-Point Decision on improving Party conduct.

Furthermore, six entries from our university received awards in the National University Category of the “Yuzong Cup.”

"A Chronicle of Shanhai" was produced and planned by Yu Yuanwei, a faculty member from the Cinematography Department of the School of Television and Audiovisual Arts (School of Documentary), and directed by Zhang Tuo, a teacher from the Production Department. The film follows the life of a teahouse owner over twelve turbulent years (2012–2024), artistically portraying how the spirit of the Eight-Point Decision reshaped the social fabric of China. Using a narrative style that interweaves flashbacks and present-day scenes, it captures the protagonist’s psychological transformation—from adherence to hidden rules to moral awakening under the tide of the times. In a moment of painful reflection, he decisively reinvents his business, transforming the once flashy and superficial “Shanhai Residence” into a vibrant, people-centered venue called “Shanhai Home.” The new space, rich in everyday life and accessible to the public, has become a popular landmark—an embodiment of societal renewal driven by clean governance. The film turns a grand political theme into a relatable personal story, using cinematic language to convey the enduring commitment to strict Party discipline and the power of improved conduct to win public trust and strengthen governance.

As the co-organizer of the national university division, Communication University of Zhejiang received 724 submissions from 128 universities and institutions across 24 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions—an increase of 43.8% compared to the previous year. Under the coordination of the university’s Discipline Inspection Commission and the School of Television and Audiovisual Arts (School of Documentary), various schools and departments actively participated, submitting a total of 71 entries (49 microfilms and 22 microvideos). After three rounds of evaluation—preliminary, secondary, and final—the university won the following awards:
