Research Symposium on the Golden Eagle Awards Evaluation Work Held at CUZ

On 28 June, a research symposium on the evaluation mechanism of the China Television Golden Eagle Awards was held at Communication University of Zhejiang (CUZ). The event brought together key figures in television arts and media academia, including Mr Yan Shaofei, Party Secretary and Executive Vice Chairman of the China Television Artists Association (CTAA); Ms Chen Jie, Party Committee Member and Deputy Chief Editor of Zhejiang Radio and Television Group; Mr Nong Shurong, Party Group Member and Secretary of the Secretariat of the Zhejiang Federation of Literary and Art Circles; Professor Wei Lu, President of CUZ; and Professor Li Wenbing, Vice President of CUZ.

Also present were representatives from the CTAA Office, the University’s Division of Humanities, Social Sciences and Creative Practice, and a panel of esteemed scholars and industry professionals in television art, theory, and production. The meeting was chaired by Mr Wang Junjie, Director of China Golden Eagle Research Centre for Television Arts and China Research Centre for Radio and Television Arts.

President Wei Lu expressed his appreciation for the CTAA’s trust in the university and the co-construction of China Golden Eagle Research Centre for Television Arts. He emphasized that the Golden Eagle Awards, as a benchmark in the industry, play a vital role in guiding the development of television art and shaping a professional evaluation framework. The award’s unique model—blending expert judgement with public appeal—effectively promotes the unity of ideological depth and artistic merit in television productions. He noted that CUZ will continue to deepen academic cooperation and resource synergy with CTAA, contributing scholarly insight and practical expertise to the high-quality development of Chinese television arts.

In his remarks, Mr Yan Shaofei highlighted the significance of the joint establishment of China Golden Eagle Research Centre for Television Arts by CTAA and CUZ, made possible through the university’s strong support. Looking ahead, he encouraged the Centre to focus on artistic appreciation, theoretical critique, new forms of dissemination, and the development of aesthetic resonance frameworks. He also called for enhanced brand value through innovation in academic research, creative leadership, and media outreach. By harnessing the strengths of higher education institutions, Mr Yan said, the Golden Eagle Awards can further reinforce their authority within the industry and extend their influence across society, aligning artistic evaluation with public engagement and contemporary needs.

● Professor Dai Qing from the Communication University of China,

● Xu Jifeng, Senior Director at Zhejiang Satellite TV,

● Li Xingwen, member of the China Literary and Art Critics Association,

● Wang Yan, Vice President and Producer at Huace Group Hangzhou Drama Centre,

... engaged in in-depth discussion on the values, mechanisms, and responsibilities of the Golden Eagle Awards in the current media landscape. They offered forward-looking and constructive insights on reform, in light of the evolving challenges and opportunities in television arts.

As part of the visit, Mr Yan and the delegation toured China Golden Eagle Research Centre for Television Arts exhibition gallery and China Research Centre for Radio and Television Arts.
