An international student from the Communication University of Zhejiang (CUZ) has claimed two silver medals at a major jiu-jitsu event in Shanghai.The 2025 GCJJF “King of Submissions” Jiu-Jitsu Championship, organised by the Greater China Jiu-Jitsu Federation, was recently held in Shanghai, bringing together top athletes from around the world.

Yandiyev Mansur, a student from Kazakhstan at CUZ’s School of International Education, won two silver medals in the 70-kilogram category, competing in two different divisions.
Mansur has been training in jiu-jitsu for seven years and has competed in events across Russia, Kazakhstan and other countries. In preparation for the Shanghai championship, he focused on improving technical precision and tactical execution, training intensively to push beyond his limits.
During the competition, he remained calm under pressure and resilient against strong international opponents, ultimately securing two runner-up finishes. His performance reflects the determination and competitive spirit of CUZ students and highlights the university’s efforts to integrate sports development with international education.
CUZ says it will continue to provide diverse platforms for student development, encouraging students to excel both academically and on the international stage.
The 2025 GCJJF King of Submissions Championship is a flagship event marking the federation’s 10th anniversary. Held under rules aligned with the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF), the tournament attracted elite athletes from China, Japan, Brazil and other leading jiu-jitsu nations, and is widely recognised as an important benchmark of competitive level in the sport.
