The Ministry of Education has approved CUZ for founding the Centre for British Studies (CBS). This is the first time that CUZ has been approved as a research and study platform of the Ministry of Education in the field of countries and regions research, which marks a major breakthrough in the construction of the national platform for the study of international issues. CUZ will take the establishment of the CBS as an opportunity to focus on the UK, further integrate relevant resources on the basis of existing research and cooperation with more than 20 universities and research institutions in the UK, actively promote cross-disciplinary, interdisciplinary and cross-professional UK comprehensive research and talent development, and create a large number of "country-to-country" and "regional" talents to meet the needs of major national policy research, and actively serve the national strategy and the overall diplomatic situation.
The CUZ Centre for British Studies was officially established and on 16 of October 2021, its unveiling ceremony was held. Former Chinese Ambassador to the UK, Mr Liu Xiaoming, Former Deputy Director of China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration, Prof. Huang Youyi, Director of the Department of European Studies of CIIS, Dr. Cui Hongjian and other senior officials as well as heads of related institutions and organizations in China were invited to attend the ceremony. CUZ's Party Secretary Yang Liping addressed the founding of the CBS and Vice Presidents, YaoZheng and Li Wenbing presided over the ceremony.
